Disney+ Subscribers Top 158M, Streaming Turns Profitable

Disney reported a surprise operating profit in its Direct-to-Consumer segment, adding 6M core Disney+ users.

The Walt Disney Company (DIS) reported its first quarterly operating profit in the Direct-to-Consumer segment, with Disney+ Core adding 6 million subscribers to reach 122.6M. Combined Disney+ and Hulu ARPU rose 4% sequentially on pricing actions and an ad-tier mix shift.

CEO Bob Iger said the company is 'past the inflection point' in streaming and reiterated full-year DTC profitability guidance. Parks segment revenue grew 7%, slightly below the Street.
