Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced a $1.9B all-cash acquisition of Nod.ai, a startup specializing in AI model compilers and inference runtimes. The deal is intended to narrow the software ecosystem gap that has historically favored NVIDIA's CUDA.
AMD CEO Lisa Su said Nod's technology will be open-sourced and integrated into the ROCm stack. The transaction is expected to close in Q3, pending antitrust review.
